Malatya is a town in Central Anatolia which is a marketing centre for village rugs and kilims woven in the region. Many of these are coarsely knotted rugs with geometric designs woven by Kurds.
Malatya kilims can be exceptionally long, some up to 15 feet. They are woven in two vertically matching halves. No borders are used and each half is self contained in its design.
