Tekke rugs, Tekke carpets

The Tekke are a Turkomen tribe who nowadays inhabit an area covering the north eat of Iran, the north west of Afghanistan and the south of Turmenistan.

Tekke rugs are usually woven with the asymmetric knot and are usually double wefted. Tekke torbas are often very finely knotted. The traditional tekke gul is an indented octagon.
