The Yomut (or Yomud) are a Turkomen tribe occupying parts of Turmenistan and Iran extending along the eastern shore of the Caspian sea. Their work is primarily identified by their most often used guls, the Dyrnak, Tauk, Noska and Kepse.
The older pieces have these arranged in vertical columns, in later rugs they are in offset rows. A wide variety of borrowed motifs are used in bags and special purpose weavings such as torbas.
